THE TRIUMPH OF AROMA

Aroma Descends...

Faced by this unprecedented threat, Humanity prayed for deliverance. They prayed that any god listening would bestow upon them absolution of stench, or some manner by which they could combat their rapidly approaching doom. From this fervent prayer Aroma was born. Aroma, the Goddess of Scent bestowed upon her believers perfume. Her perfume arrived in the form of glades with scented water. The area surrounding these aromatic areas were an anathema to the Putrid, and consequently The Reeking One. Seeing the correlation between this scented water, and the Putrid, people began to douse themselves in it. They soaked their items in it, poured it in their bath water, and an unfortunate few even drank it - though they quickly learned that it should not be ingested. The Putrid would shirk from the scent, and it would be revealed that the repeated application of this perfume to the Putrid would undo their transformation. Humanity had turned the tides with the aid of Aroma, and seemingly vanquished this threat -  the sole remaining Putrid was the progenitor of bad scent: The Reeking One. Despite repeated attempts to de-scent Him, the scent never truly faded - it had lessened temporarily, but it inevitably returned.  As a last resort, a brave volunteer named Amora undertook a mission to become the sole Putrid under The Reeking One's command, and, betraying his confidence, deliver him unto his enemies. Amora had succeeded, and in a final desperate attempt to sanctify The Reeking One, submerged him in one of Aroma's aromatic glades. A shriek cut through the air, and, following this, Aroma's glade lost its scent -  as did The Reeking One, now returned to Reík. Humanity rejoiced at the destruction of such a virulent power, and celebrated for days to come. They dared not document this century long war with The Reeking One lest someone try to manifest His presence once more; never had the though crossed their mind that they never vanquished Him to begin with, but rather excised Him from His host.
